Toad In The Hole
Toad in the Hole is a traditional English breakfast. My father made this all the time when I was small but the person who makes it the best is my wife. There are many versions of this recipe from a basic fried egg in the middle of a buttered slice of bread to a biscuit based, maple syrup and sausage recipe and I have tried them all... I prefer the former, myself, so this page will detail a recipe based on a fried egg and buttered bread. It is easy, quick and delicious!
I probably should mention that in the following recipes I use these abbreviations: - 't' refers to teaspoon
- 'T' refers to tablespoon
- 'c' means cup
- '#' means pound
